I tried to order a replacement element for my finned aluminum air cleaner, but found out it's no longer available. Dammit, these days custom parts sources seem to dry up quickly. So I decided to change from finned aluminum stuff to some proper Ford chrome HiPo stuff that I know will be available in the future: The engine had developed a tick on startup that went away after it warmed up, so I decided to adjust the lifters while I was in there. I had cut the tops off the original covers that came with the car for this reason, and had done it several years ago, but I've got almost 70,000 miles on it since I bought it, so it was time again. Let the engine warm up, loosen each rocker 'til it starts clicking, then tighten about 1/2 turn. Nice & quiet now, and good for the Sonoma NASCAR road trip.
The most direct route is about 1300 round trip, but we're gonna wander, take the scenic route and hit some landmarks; maybe Yosemite, cross the Golden Gate bridge, brewskis at Sierra Nevada Brewing in Chico, oysters at Bodega Bay, etc.
