Afternoon all, this just showed up where I keep my Chero it’s a Plymouth valiant but not sure the year?
I'm guessing 1961. Here is a link that talks about the evolution of the Valiant... https://www.allpar.com/old/buyers-guide/valiant-barracuda.html
My brother Geoff swears by the Slam-6, err, Slant-6, and even has cussed at them. He said that they loved punishment; the more you beat on one, the better it would run. And you have to check those early '60s ones out carefully, as there were some built with an aluminum block. From Wikipedia, cited from Allpar: "The G-engine gained a reputation for reliability and durability. The basic design is rigid and sturdy, in part because the engine was designed to be made of either iron or aluminum. An aluminum block was produced in 1961–1963, but most blocks were made of iron." If Chrysler had spent more R&D money into perfecting the aluminum castings, they could've given Chrysler cars an edge when the Seventies came around.
When we were teens, one of my buddies had one as his first car. I remember we used to strike matches on it's engine-turned dash to light cigarettes. One time the muffler fell off on a fishing trip to Canada; we wired on a tin can punched full of holes thinking that would help. It did, for about 2 miles, then blew off. Good times.
