My ranchero does not have the original motor in it, it has a mustang 1989, 302, v8,5 speed. Where can I find the transmission identification number so I can tell what it is? I am thinking about putting a shorter throw on it for the one on it is really long!

If it's an 89 5.0 w/5 speed, most likely it's going to be a T-5 transmission. I don't know of any place to find numbers, it's more a visual thing. I'd do a search on line for some pics to match up.

Thanks, now that you said that I believe that was what I was told when I bought it. Now to look for a shorter throw shifter.

You could always pull yours out and cut it to the length you want then weld it back together. Just cut it low so that the weld is hidden in the boot.
