Can someone help me out. The previous owner disconnected the wiper switch and put in a crappy toggle. Now I have only one speed and it turns off instantly when you let go of the switch. Can someone tell me how to check the motor and switch to figure out why they did this? After some quick parts searching, I think I might have found out why they didnt replace the switch(if that is whats wrong). I looked for a new replacement and it looks like they are not available. Not unless I was just somehow doing the search incorrectly. Thanks for the help!! Jerry
if its the 9 pin switch you wont find any nos parts,,, i finaly got a 9 spade switch an just wired it in.
You might get lucky on Ebay. I needed a heater/ac fan switch for my Ranchero and couldn't get one anywhere. Then I found a NOS switch, still in the box, on Ebay and got it for a reasonable price.
true,,, but watch them very close,, they make 2 kinds of 9 pin.... one is for interment an the other is for 2 speed..
wiper switch "thunderbird connection" currently shows two different switches for Falcon (believe Falcon will be the same). You'll have to call them to see if they actually have the switch you need.
Thought I posted this before, but can't see it now -- there are cheap aftermarket gizmos that will give you modern-style delay wiper action, and only need the one speed. Think you will need to get parking it figured out, though -- that's done inside the motor itself.
I see the two they have on there. I will need to check and see which one I have. But before I do anything, does anyone know how to check the switch to see if that is the problem?
Just a thought, 641/2- 66 Mustang switch & motor etc. should be the same, check out Mustang suppliers, Mustangs unlimited, ? The Falcons Nest ? etc.
You do a continuity test using an ohm meter and a wiring diagram. It's a pain to do but the only accepted way to test just the switch. If you test the system, a 12 volt test light is acceptable, along with the wiring diagram.
If your original switch is gone, Why not replace it before trying to troubleshoot the motor? As someone already mentioned, the Mustang switches are the same depending on whether you have one speed, two speed, etc.. The interchange manual confirms. If you have the old switch, verify the configuration for the back is the same to accept your socket.
