FF I think the main problem the see it the u bolts.. Yes Squire the do make bag over shocks at around 500 to 900 a pair...If ford had used an A arm instead there would be plenty of room for shock but with the strut rod there is really no way to get a straight shot to lower arm.
having some interference problems with the bags and frame and was stuck working the few weekends so I have not spent any time with it..execpt to Tuck the bumper......
I finally have bag interference problem and shock mounts worked out! hopefully will get it buttoned up this week and get it aligned next week!
Looks nice. At some later time, I'd hope you'd weld that upper shock bracket to the frame. I think it'll be hard to keep those bolts tight in your current design. But more important, how are the air springs working out?
No plans to weld brackets The bolts have self locking interference nuts do not think staying tight will be a problem. took awhile but I finally got the bags mounted in a way that they do not rub on the frame. Hopefully will get it plumbed and wired next week , the off to find a shop that will align it. For some stupid reason I had to prove to my self I could do this with out cutting the frame.
I really like the air bag idea. how bad is the cost of doing that? do you take the air bags out during the shock installing? checking for free travel? I know, im asking alot, but Im curious how you knew where to put the shocks and stuff. I got my eye on a 67 chero, that is sorta rough,a perfect candidate for customizing. its nice body wise, but all the rest needs attention. I was thinking of air baggin it.
67 should be relatively easy with the front suspension design it has its like your 70. I would just run a bag over shock set up. My cost was about $125 for the front 75 for bags and 50 for shocks both bought off of Ebay, No bag was installed for shock installation a lot of trial and error fitting about 3 months worth!
Sweet, thats the info I was looking for. Thanks, I kinda figured it was a lot of trial, and error. I got plenty of time. but learning from others sure makes the job easier.
