Nothing much to do on the Ranchero; just changed oil & filters, sooo.... I'm a sucker for a transparent red finish on some nice wood, and I found a beautiful one piece chunk of Okoume on eBay for cheap: The design is similar to a commercially made guitar, but I've made a few changes to my liking, then ordered an unfinished neck and other parts to get started. I cut the body shape on a bandsaw, then routered the edges and the areas for the neck, the pickup and the controls: Color on: Mocking up parts after clear coats, wet sanding & polishing: Done:
Hey - it's against the rules to be working on something and NOT tell anyone until it's done. Somebody will probably have to look up what the penalty is for breaking the cardinal rule.
Very nice built, the finish is awsome, how many guitars are you building during a year and what are you doing of them, playing ? selling some ? just keeping all of them hanging on a wall ? P90 on it ? Were you inspired by Brian May's guitar ?
Thanks FrenchFan. My build schedule is pretty random depending on what ideas I get interested in doing. I sell most, but keep a few special ones. Here's my current keepers: The two red SGs are Gibsons; the one on the left is a 1964 that I stripped and refinished. The rest, including the small ukuleles, I built. This current one I built was inspired by an image I saw online, and yes, it has a P90, my favorite type of pickup. I suck at playing but enjoy designing and building.
I understand that the Squier J. Mascis Jazzmaster uses P90 construction in a Jazzmaster housing. https://foundsound.com.au/products/...cJD3NLOgI2_yHQkx1Mnz6aX5uyxXeUjHLYyl9SnV1j2er
