I have a 1970 Mustang Coupe. Condition is good and it is presently getting a newly bebuilt, different, 351 Cleavland, 4bbl, which I picked up from a CL posted here. The car is mostly dead stock, black interior is good except the cracked dash which needs to be replaced. It is equipped with factory 4-speed and Hurst shifter. Radio/CD player. Dark blue in color, not a great paint job, but ok from 15-20 feet. Was fun to drive before original engine went south. Trikar, can I send you some pics to post? Anyway, I may need to sell it and was wondering on the price; it will include my original 351 C block which will need to be rebuilt too, as it has bad rings. So a car with two engines. Just need an idea from you guys in the know to go on, I have seen the Hemmings value listings and was hoping for over 10K. I paid 7K for it a year ago, but now it will have a new engine, and a second block. Thanks much.

Ron,
I'll be surprised if a '70 coupe will bring that much, even with it being a 4 speed car. I could easily be wrong, so it won't hurt to try. If you could get a Mopar name plate to stick on it, or even write Camaro across the rear end, it should bring $20k or more. ;)

Yeah, Denny, Ford's get no respect. I'd like to try for at least the price I paid, but we'll see. Thanks.

It has worth and don't let anyone here put it down. I've got a 69 Mach 1 351W sitting back at the shop that we have been offered, 10K as it sits. Hang in there look for the right buyer...

CJ Guy, thanks; I'm in no hurry to sell, want to drive that new engine for a while, but looking for cash for finishing old and starting some new projects, including my 64 Chero.

Ron, I want to be clear that I'm not putting the car down. I actually prefer 69 and 70 Mustang coupes over the older coupes, but judging from how they sell, apparently I'm one of the few people who does.

I'm sure ya'll already know this, but the value of a 69 or 70 Mustang Mach I or fastback is not relative to a coupe. Yes, the coupe has worth, especially with it being a 4 speed car. I'm just trying to be realistic. It should be worth what you have in it with no problem. I'm just saying that it might take a while to get more that $10k for it.

Will keep you all posted on any developments because, well, inquiring minds want to know!! Can I send one of you a pic to post for me? To see what we are talking about.

a guy that showed up to the Silver dollar raceway show this year brought a stunning blue 70 grande coupe which was nearly perfect ... except for a few minor details in the engine compartment.. ..he was asking $18000..which he didnt get... and he entered in the under construction class which TICKED me off big time.. ;)

Trikar

Thanks for offering to post the pics, I just sent them to you. The guy who sold it to me said it was a M code, original block, 351 Cleveland, 4bbl, with factory 4 speed. He also said it was 30K miles since a rebuild but my mech said it was an "old tired engine", rings shot, bad blow by, oily mess, so he lied about that!! Getting new rebuild (again!!) put in, and its dragggging on and on to get done!! The vin is 0R01M139169, the R means it was assembled in San Jose, CA, and has probalby stayed in CA since then, it appears rust free, but I have not dug up the carpet, etc. Like I said, I may keep it for a while, as I see what my other projects will cost me before I sell it, if I do. Rest of you, I appreciate your help on this.

Ron

If you're thinking of selling it Ron, you could bring it with you on your European trip...
It would definitely sell over here.. :D :D

Thanks Trikar for posting and 72GTVA for your advice/comments!! Yes, Tony, you'll be the first to know, but I guess you'll need to replace the Stars and Stripes with the Union Jack on the front lic. smile.gif

Unfortunately it would have to be a standard boring UK number plate.... :(
Got to have a front plate by law.....

There is the same law in California, in case you did not know Ron.

Yep, I lived dangerously, for fun, for a few weeks, but now have the blue and golds back on front, just letters and numbers. Like in the discussion on "Lic Plate", don't want to call attention to myself needlessly.

I've been running without a front plate for over a year now. If I get stopped it's just a fix-it ticket. A front plate really ruins the looks of the front end, so I'll take my chances.

Yeah, Jax, it figgers; I know about all you "rebels" over there in the "Peoples Republic of Davis". For all you folks in the rest of the land, Davis, CA is sort of a Berkeley of the Central Valley; looks like China or Holland, with everyone on bicycles. Like Berkeley, it has a "once great" University of CA campus; claim to fame is Veternary Medicine. I agree, it's no biggie, even here, if you get caught w/o front plate. So I might try to live "dangerously" again.
