OK I just bought a 2000 S-10 ext cab for $850, guy said the engine was blown
got it home charged the battery and it started right up. put it in any gear (auto) and it does nothing. but I hear a loud vibration for the area where engine tranny met. Any Ideas, I think I know but checking before I get a new tranny

Might be a bad toque convertor.

Well upon giving a better check of it this morning, fiuld is not burned nice red color, smelled ok too, when I started it it's more like the flywheel could be broken? would a truck start with a bad flywheel?

update, popped the insp plate and with the truck in park can turn converter freely.

Flywheels broken, my old ranger sounded like it had a rod knock just before the center of the flywheel came free from the rest at 60mph, uneasy feeling at that speed when all power disappears and the engine revs.

tully is the motor turning over with the converter? Park will not stop the verter from turning.

the bolts fall out of the converter? or could they break out of the flywheel?

When I had a auto in my Chero I did have a issue with the torque convertor bolts getting loose and backing into the block plate. Funny how that sounds like rod knock.
