Greetings, I was just poking around the web and found your site, very cool. I thought that this would be a good place to ask an unanswered question that I have: How many N code Ranchero Squires were produced. I bought one last winter and I've been slowly but surely restoring it. The VIN starts with "2A49N", so I've deduced that it's an N code Squire. Unfortunately, a previous owner removed the wood panels, so my suspicion that it has low production numbers is tempered by the notion that it wouldn't bring top dollar if (for some perverted reason) I should ever want to sell it.
Here's a link to my restoration blog:

Thanks in advance for any info.

Well as far as N Code Squires in 72 I can't answer that... but for squires in general there were only 4298 total made in 1972... also there are some Q code Squires out there we are currently waiting to find out how many of the 72 Q code squires were built. Order a Marti report on your truck and your answers will be on that report. Welcome aboard and I have to say sugar...that is one very beautiful ride you have right there...but then I'm a fan of RED and 72's...

Thanks for the kudos on the old red; unfortunately she's long gone (as you can see in my blog). I had no idea that my picture was going to come out quite so large. Do I need to scale it down?

There were only 860 N code Ranchero GT's in 1972, so I would say it is safe to say there were fewer than 860 Ranchero squire N codes in 1972.

Thanks for the info. Hmmm... with low production numbers like that, I wonder if I should really start beating the bushes for some wood panels... would the panels from a Torino station wagon match?

Kilmer:
Very nice looking ride, very nice.
On the woodgrain panels, check out Dearborn Classics @ 800-252-7427 or perhaps AutoKrafters @ 800-228-7346 or Dennis Carpenter @ 704-786-8139. If they don't carry them, they might know who does. I've also seen reference to the wood grain in other threads here.

Phoenix Graphics no longer sells the woodgrain. J.C. WWW.Whitney.com (http://WWW.Whitney.com) sells some. I went ahead and re grained the original trim with stain to look like the original finnish, but then I re grained the body panels the same way since I figured that if I did not like the outcome that I would just purchase the vinyl woodgrain from JC Whitney. I liked the way that my faux Wood graining turned out. It is a lighter grain than the OEM vinyl Woodgrain so I darkened the finish on the trim. Sorry I don't have any pictures but my camera is not working. Id have some extra pieces of the trim, but they would need to be re finished. and I do not have the pieces that fit the front fenders. My Squire is a 73 not a 72.

Thanks for all the info, I have heard of Dearborn Classics before, but I had not seen the AutoKrafters catalog yet. I think that the wood panel aspect of my current project will have to set on the back burner for awhile; I'm spending enough money just trying to get it rolling down the road.
Thanks again for the info.
