Please read that fresh news, and then somebody tell me again what we are doing in Iraq -- and for added points, tell me why you think it will ever get any better than this.

Believe it or not thats been happening since 04 when I was there. Also its not uncommon for the entire Iraqi Police or Army unit to simply melt away. So its very easy for the insurgents to get there hands on the uniforms. These "Blue on Blue" fire situations happen every day so who would you rather have it happen to, our guys or some Iraqi unit that doesnt know its head from its ass?

He'd rather it happen to us because we're the evil ones, remember?

??? I wouldn't rather it happen to anybody. I take this as just another signal they want us out of there, and that reports of 'positive developments' in Iraq are bunk. If the insurgent guys didn't have popular support this wouldn't be happening 4+ years after we moved in.

Anybody else notice that Sen. Warner turned lib yesterday? Time to skip all the way to Plan E -- for exit.

Do you even know what he said? Don't count your override votes before you have them.

LOL -- Marauder, I probably read more news than anybody here. If I mention it you can just assume I read it and know what it says.

What do you think would happen if Congress takes up the question of re-authorizing the Iraq occupation? Tell me that's not a smart gambit -- and it comes from two important Repub Senators.

Lugar has always been semi-honest, but when Warner falls you might as well start packing -- he's cover for a bunch of other R Senators. There's nobody who can say this wasn't a big change for Warner.

Here's a Fox News Channel link ... though you could read the story almost anywhere on the web.

NY Times? BB come we here have more sense than you give us credit for, to believe or even entertain the idea that the NY Times is anything but manipulation of the "News", the NY Times is a News handler, not truth, not reality, just biased manipulation of what your party wants to portray, thats the facts guy. The sooner you understand that FACT, the better your understanding will be of what the world is really going through. Break the shell you live in and smell reality...

Because he doesn't follow in lock step with the President doesn't mean he's turned liberal or turned anything else. It just means he has a different idea of how to proceed... how does that make him a liberal?

Dont you f'ing get it BB, this is ALLLL about us and our survival, we need a foot hold in that sh*t hole part of the world for the coming time when we F'ING green glaze them all, the f'ing Arabs, and all their damn camels, in about 17 years by my calculations.

Blue, I'm not sure I understood that. Just come out and say what you mean. Do you like the Iraqis or don't you? ;) :D

If we'd invest in the infrastructure for Hydrogen we could leave these fools to the wolves.

Regardless of whether you believe in global warming and man's influence on that, there can be no question that with every gallon pumped money lines the pockets of Arabs bent on our destruction.

We fund both sides in the war against terrorism.

Denny, I actually feel sorry for them, the people; they are pons in everybody's global game, have been for a while; and we are used to winning, in the end, after some serious bloodying.

Marauder, I agree, we need a Manhatten or Apollo sized project to develop real syn-fules, not something that just results in a bunch of Govt. subsidies and the big oil remaining in power, over corn. Guess I'm nuts to believe that will happpen though!!! BTW, speaking of your namesake, saw a nice black 64 Merc. Marauder at a car show over the weekend, reminded me of the time when NASCAR was "recognizable", as to models of cars.

If only that were limited to NASCAR... cars today have such minimal styling compared to back in the day... I mean, consider that Marauder. Chrome everywhere... When you drive a car like that, you're driving, not commuting. smile.gif

Yeah, the notion of ethanol, based on corn or switch grass, being a realistic replacement is laughable. Firstly, it takes about as much energy derived from oil to produce the ethanol as we're attempting to save through its use... but then you have to consider the additional processing, etc, and you realize it's not an economic nor environmental possibility to switch to ethanol. In fact, the only reason politicians subscribe to ethanol is that the Iowa caucus is first in the Presidential campaign... pander there or don't play is the name of that game.

But here's the kicker... Let's round up every ear of corn in America and quite using it for anything else so we can make fuel out of it... Great... Now, where are we supposed to get the remaining 88% of our fuel needs?

That's right, using every bit of corn on this entire continent, we could supplant 12% of our oil consumption.

So, you're absolutely right there.

The fact that the American economy could be the one to innovate and spearhead the new technology that will reshape the modern world, but likely won't, is nearly criminal.
