Hey Fellas, Here is my 73 Ranchero with the original 400/2V and original C-6 transmission. The engine was completely gone through and rebuilt to factory specs. I replaced the entire front suspension with new springs from Moog and it rides like new. Gets about 15 mpg all around highway and town driving. Body work wasn't done to concourse, but me and a friend did it and painted it a 74 torino color. It still has hail damage from the whopper storm that hit Oklahoma City in 1999. I bought it in 1996 in Oklahoma from a retired man that wanted to keep it away from his college student son that would have drove it into the ground. Lucky me! Here are some pictures I took after I cleaned the dust and pollen off today....
That Ranchero 500 looks in great condition, INTERIOR LOOKS LIKE IT WAS DONE RIGHT ,AND THE SHEPARD WANTS A RIDE!!! ANDY
Thanks andrewok1, Still lots to do when budget allows it, but I like it; and yes Maxwell definitely likes to go for rides
Thanks LSChero, Its a lot of work, but Rancheros are very cool and not everyone has one. Now I have a shifter shaft seal dripping on the transmission. I'll probably be taking out the trans. and taking it to a guy in town that will go through it with a master kit.
Not doing any towing with it, but I did pull out some maple tree roots that were encroaching the steps around the deck in one of the pictures. That thing pulls like a train...pretty much pulled forward just above idle. Glad you like the color, I think they call it Sandlemist metallic bronze.
Beautiful beast vmaxman. That ride radiates a lot of love. And 15 miles a gallon? I'm lucky to get better than 10 miles a gallon from my mistress.
