How's it going ya'll? New to the forum but I have been snooping around the topics for some time now. I am currently building a '74 Duster for myself and while I was tooling around my son likes to help. While I was out visiting a buddy I saw a red lump in a field covered by shoulder high weeds. I stopped and took a look. At first I thought it was an El Camino. I was pleasantly surprised that it was a Ford. As I was walking back out of the field, someone yelled at me, "its for sale if you were wondering!". I talked to the guy and turns out he just wanted it gone. So for the low low price of $400 bucks, I bought my boy his first car. I figured it'll take some time and we can have fun building it together. So long intro i guess. Look forward to chiming in and asking questions. Jon
A field of Tall Grass in Northern California?? Gotta watch out for those Farmers and their crop... Ha.. Post some pics of yourRanchero..
Yup, tucked out in the sticks of Oakley. Guy literally had to mow around and a path to hook it up. Once I figure out how to attach pictures I will post them.
LMAO......the hilarious thing about this is, I just moved from that area a year ago. Probably drove past that thing all the time. Worked right there on Lone Tree at the Brentwood Home Depot.
this guy was tucked almost in Bethel Island. it was by shear luck I spotted it. It was this guys field then sloughs, nothing for miles after his property.
Jon, Do a Google Map search of the area, I bet you will find it on the Map..https://www.google.com/maps/place/B...f046773f5287f!8m2!3d38.0149216!4d-121.6405085
HA!!! I tracked it down. It was in his driveway, so maybe it wasn't in that field too long. But long enough for the grass to grow over it. Awesome.
Thanks!!! Looking forward to it. Especially coming from building a Mopar where a simple A body is a fortune.
That should be a fun build!!! And a custom to boot! AND you get to work with your son on it, and see how creative he wants to be. That's one of those priceless experiences. Welcome to the group!
Thanks! He already wants to paint like four different colors. I have to reel him in on some of his ideas.
Had to reel myself in a couple of times, by remembering what I was doing, and what the goal was. You may find reeling him in a little easier! Still should be a fun build!
