I spent the night in Hayward and just got home. Just wanted to say that 5.0 is a great guy too and after seeing some of his work, I can tell that he is a very talented guy especially when it comes to fabrication work. Nice 5.0 Chero!

    I agree...

... Carl does some amazing work. Very ambitious and a creative thinker and do'er! Never met him, but I watch all that he does here and shares, and I have to say he is a "talent".

Keep up the great articles for all of us, Carl!

That was a hell of a drive. FOr those that have never driven the Grapevine, it will put your car to the test. The Squire passed with flying colors. Heck when I was heading up hill I was passing people, most people. The new cars just dont have the grunt of the old V8's.

Met Carl, as stated great guy and awsome fabricator. The 72 conversion on the Pyl is really well done. Hell the oval headlight looks kick ass in person.

FInally got the ast piece for my 72 nose kit, Carl's red hood. I cant dedcided if im going to 72 Squire of the Torino, kinda leaning to the Torino.

Its a good thing you didnt. I did not arrive till 4:30ish in the afternoon.

Hell I didnt get hiome till about 1:45 in the morning.

Oh ya Urathane, I love it. Makes the Squire ahndle like a late model car. However on long road trips after about 8 hours of driving your ass starts to go numb. The Urathane isnt as fun on long trips.

Maybe I just need better seats. And the quest for aprts continues.

Thanks Doug I am proud of the lights they look just like I thought they would!

Figured the shell would have to come off again. did you recheck the pics on the front end swap to see the 73 brackets?

Well I crunched some numbers and I came up with an average of 22.2 MPG for the entire trip. For th most part I was clipping along a 80 MPH, if not slightly high for some parts.

So a 5 speed and a shell really make a difference.

I need to find the rest of the receits from the trip. Get the actuall numbers, might lower the aveage slightly buts its right up there with if not better than modern SUV's and trucks.

That comes with driving a brick wall on wheels, I average similar mileage with the Voyager while my LeSabre gets me close to 28. Hoping to average mid 20s with the ranchero with the 4.6l/od setup.
