Anybody have any success replacing the fake wood trim on the dashboard of a 68-69? If so, what did you do and does it hold up to the elements? Thanks!
If you are looking for a (like new) factory finish... might consider Instrument Specialties. They are able to redo the wood grain in the trim of my GT Horn Cap. http://www.instrument-specialties.com/
Pony, did you refinish your wood grain panels? My 69 wood trim looks pretty much like what's in the photo beeeman provided... (thank you...) Am thinking about refinishing the chrome, black paint, & the wood. While I am still a ways off from doing the interior - am starting to take a hard look at the wiring & wire harness, gauges, A/C (factory), & the wood trim. Could I.S. do all that? and, that route is too $$$, Beerbelly - did you ever use that 3M wood grain adhesive vinyl? That stuff looks like it might work too? Thanks!
I haven't used it on a car, but I have on many signs. You could probably get a free sample or see samples at any sign shop, like Signs Now or Fast Signs. And 3M is the best stuff.
I don't have any wood trim, other then in the Horn pad center trim. A friend of mine gave me some wood laminate to do my Horn pad, but Instrument Specialties said they could do it. So since they were re-dying everything anyway, I let them finish it. Hopefully will be getting it back soon. Will provide pic's in my Stable thread once I do. Here's what mine ;looked like before I sent everything off to Instrument Specialties. I have already replaced the three point seat belts with the restored originals. Pretty sure Instrument Specialties can handle it. They are not cheap! Movie I took of Brittany after being made showable. Instrument Specialties finish on my clock And Cluster
