Somebody will be a little bit unhappy. A "C" code 429 is a Quadrajet carbed hydraulic lifter Cobra Jet engine. A "J" code 429 is the one used in Drag Pac Fords. A "J" code has solid lifters and a huge Holley carb along with a radiator core support mounted oil cooler. The "C-6" should have a cast iron tailshaft casing if it is original. Why no bragging rights engine photo ? Same for the staggered rear shocks if it is a Drag Pac ? We still have Dad's Ranchero for comparison.
Dave, pics of our's are on page 2 of Rancheros for sale. The heading is " Jay, here's those pics I promised " Dad and I have swapped ownership of this Ranchero numerous times, he had a wild hair and decided to sell it but has since backed out. There is also a video on Youtube under "Uncle Tony's Garage " showing it being driven and looked over ( Rollin' With Grandpa Cobra Jet ) and another video you might like ( Rarest of the rare-1970 Ford King Cobra ) on Legendary Collector Cars. Dad has been a good teacher for me. I am very fortunate to have him in my life.
