Does anyone think using a plywood template with this die grinder bit using the shank to ride against the plywood would work? Basically using it as a router. May not work at all. I don't have experience with trying to use a bit like this to cut sheet metal. I've used a router on wood a lot to cut, contour and shape but haven't tried anything like this before and want the holes to look as good as I can (even though it shouldn't matter!)
That's more like what I was thinking. I think a regular drill motor will be too slow. Might have to get a rotozip or find a 1/4" shank one for a die grinder. Thanks.
You won't like the finished product with a die grinder. I also believe the nibbler will do the best job.
I get it Boiler, you do nice work!Hole saw the corners out first, zip wheel the straight lines.File the edges, prep with pors....DONE.
Before I start cutting anyone care to confirm the centerline between the cutouts is approximately 15" from the rear of the hood?
If you are not using the ram air there is no point in cutting the four holes, it will just let water drip all over the motor. The two holes for the signal lamps are going to have big holes for them. You will need a template for those. I just drilled the holes for mounting and left the signal lamps in the boxes on the shelf. Has worked just fine that way for forty five years.
Thanks for taking the time to respond but cutting the holes is what I want to do for various reasons.
Can't measure with the scoop on, but here is a pic from the underside. based on your bolt holes, it looks pretty correct.
Thanks. A couple of small pilot holes for the studs on either side, your photo and my template will tell all.
