I have a 73 ranchero with a 351cj. I did points and I need to fix timing. My engine has air conditioning and it’s in the way. Is there a way to do timing without removing the compressor?

Go to a decent auto parts house, they will have or can get what is called a "Distributor Wrench ". It will be bent in such a fashion needed to reach under the distributor to get at that hold down bolt. Not expensive and saves a lot of cursing.

I need to buy one also. Is it a standard size or is each distributor hold down bolt different? 1976 351M with factory air.

Ford is 1/2", GM is 9/16" for SAE engines. It's why you get two ends.

Made mine out of an old extra 1/2 wrench. Heated it with a torch then just make your bend.
