Hi All , time to get away for a while so we are visiting the USA and Canada. A couple [ wife Sharon and I ] of flying Kiwis. We leave for Hawaii today then San Fran . Will catch up with my mate Nick in Canton Ohio next. He sourced my Ranchero for me. Will be there about a week. Then on to Niagra , Calgary and down to Vancouver. An 8 day cruise to Alaska then back to reality. Hope to do a bit of car stuff with Nick and look up a few car or hot rod shops too. Will check into the site each day to keep up with what is happening.
    Denis.

Sounds like a fun trip. Don't judge CA by what you see in SF though, bunch of East Coast carpetbaggers have taken over the place and now it is like New York, only cleaner.

You'll be close to my neck of the woods. Will you be boarding the cruise ship in Vancouver?

In the past 5 years I've been to Portland, Seattle and Vancouver (Canada). I think I liked Portland the best. The Gorge was amazing. Vancouver was second, because Canadian's are crazy nice people.

    That explains a lot.

Portland area. I stayed on the Columbia River, and drove up the Gorge. Didn't see much else. Nice folk though. Drive better than those Cali assholes.

Portolet doesn't need the bridges taken down, unless they want to trap the 5 normal people that remain there.

If you are offered a 3 hour cruise on the Minnow, don't take it.

Yes, but the real fan knows the END THEME by heart. I know it....

As for Portlandia, I forgot four important words on the end of my statement: "...Across the Columbia River." And if you do drive that convoluted bowl of spaghetti that soars above the Downtown core, I wish you the best of luck.

Hi All , currently kicking back in San Fran after 4days in Honolulu. Nice enough places ( both of them ). Bit of a nuisance not having any transport though. We did hire a Mustang convertible and drive out to the North Shore in Hawaii though. Interesting experience ! First time in a convert, got the obligatory sun/wind burn. Off to my mates place in Canton Ohio on Saturday . Looking forward to doing a bit of car stuff there.

    Hi Denis*
Welcome to Cali! If in SF check out the Ferry building {foot of Market St.} nice shops, restaurants. Fisherman`s Wharf also. Catch the Powell St.cable car downtown. Nordstrom`s shopping center is there, shops, restaurants.etc.
    Like Mexican food? Mission District....:)

    Enjoy your stay!

And if the wind is blowing the right way, wait until you take a whiff of the sea lions at Pier 39.

Don't forget Uber....relatively inexpensive means of getting around in cities such as SF.

Well , we are now in Calgary getting ready to travel to Banff this morning. Spent a pleasant 5 days staying with my mate in Canton Ohio. Nice to be where my Ranchero came from. Went cruising in his 30 A coupe hot rod , even drove it for a while. Met up with a friend of Nicks with another 30 A coupe ( fenderless , 383 powered) running straight from the headers. Can’t get away with that at home for long ! Nicks coupe has exhausts but no mufflers.
Enjoyed our time in the States and Niagara so now off into the Rockies.
    Denis.
