I swear that both front wheels came up. Cant prove it no track photo that night. I think the next time I go out I will mount a camera in back. Alot of fun.

If you have time to scream, you are doing it wrong!
There is so much going on that I don't have time to blink until I am in third, and have to force myself to do it then.
You ever wake up to the nightmare that you blinked and the tree was green? Or that you blinked and a car or the wall was in front of you?
Back in 72 I was racing a blown impala with my dart on a desert road east of San Diego. Even though I had less power I was a lot lighter so I walked away from him. When I shifted up from first, nothing happened. I glanced down at the ratchet shifter, looked up as I cycled it again, and that impala had broken an axle and was in my way.
Luckily there were no walls and we both ended up in the sand.
I couldn't sleep for days, replaying the distraction.
Hopefully your wife is still willing to run the car. If not, you should make her do it.

She willing but hasn't had the chance with work and limited local racing. I was only foolin about the screamin.. The 1/8 mile is pretty quick. If you look real close the Ranchero leaves and you can see alittle wiggle when the front tires come back down.I'm callin that a wheelie. I'm getting 1.60 / 60ft with 4.30 gears.

Took my black 59 Elky for a run on a strip when we had our little ElCamino get together little over a week ago. (about 85 cars this year)

About half went to the drag strip to play throughout the night.

I was goaded into running the 59.

I would not have done it, but Ralph, (Drag car Elky guy), promised he would cart my car home (200 miles) if it broke:D.

Never been on a strip before in my life.

    .87x reaction-----------apparenly taking a nap

    got some good burns in 2nd, 3rd, & 4th.

Paniced just a bit at an extremely short shudown lane and was dead on the brakes thru the traps:p

    80ish mph
    16.5xx .

My racer buddy said that was not too shabby given my first time out and the Elky is aboout as big as the Titanic

Will try to do better next year

How could you wait a whole year for the next time?
