This will be talked about for years in the pontiac/vintage drag racing circle.

Man, that's one rare piece of history. I hope they try to track down where all it's been and maybe find the original parts. Neat !

There are a still a few of those finds around the Detroit area. I have a buddy a few years back that was restoring a 66 or 67 GTO and found out it was one of Royal Pontiac's drag race fleet.

There was an article in a magazine on those, I may still have it. If you check Barrett-Jackson.com, a few of the SDs brought some insane $$$ last year. The '61-'63 Tempests had quite a selection of engines. They all had transaxles in the rear. Engines available were a 4-cylinder based on a 326 V8 with 4 cyls lopped off, a 1st-gen Buick V6, and an aluminum V8. The success of the GTO in '64 getting all the factory support probably contributed to this car ending up in storage. AND the Ford Thunderbolts!:cool:JD

Dennis, on that link they used my pictures of the Cyclone, the one you seen in person.

Rancheromeister, what about the Pontiac "Tin Indian" and the "HDs". The Ford Thunderbolts were Bill Tasca's idea. (Tasca Ford)
