Y`all know what a cutting horse is??? It`s the one cowboys use fer rounding up cattle, chasing and redirecting the herd to where you want them to go... Well this morning.... I didn`t have half of my first cup of coffee down when I seen two horses and a donkey running down the driveway... we only own one horse and one donkey, and they`re sposed to be in fence... The neighbors philly (in heat) had gotten out and come visiting over at our house, causing the two of ours to escape the electric fence... I walked as far as I could calling and rattling the feed bucket, BUT Sundance, the stud, had other things on mind than eating or obeying my commands... By the time I got things ready, gates open and electric fence turned off and pushed to the ground, the three animals had done made it across the soybean field and into the hay field at another neighbors... Quick thinking, I got on the VT 750 "cutting Horse" and proceeded to get these critters back onto our property... I only wish Ann had gotten pictures of me cutting off those horses and donkey guiding them home through the soybeans... As I sat in my easychair after the fact ~ I got to thinking; 1) My bike is a cruiser, FOR Highway and boulevard use... 2) Those fork seals ain`t been leaking before and I hope that I ain`t done damaged them from all the motion they had to endure... 3) I gotta get out there and clean them soybean leaves off the bike and check all the components and wash the bike... 4) I was wanting to go fer a ride today, BUT, This isn`t the smartest decision I`ve made today, chasing horses on my Bike... HOWEVER, I thank Motorman fer the tips I`ve picked up from his videos, like; a) Keep your eyes on where you`re going, not on the ground in front of you... This very helpful while running the rows of soft dirt in between the rows of soybeans... b) Brake with the rear and use the friction zone...NOT the front brake!!! This was very helpful whilst running through the wet, from dew, hayfield... c) howto pick up your fallen motorcycle... This was very helpful when I had one horse almost bolt past me, but I jumped off and caught her... My suggestion today is; Don`t use your cruiser type motorcycle fer a chase vehicle across soybean fields, the hay field wasn`t too bad, but that soybean field was prolly pretty rough on the bike... Wish me luck that I didn`t tear up nothing... I think I`l buy another vehicle fer chasing horses... Ride Safe!!!
