I am building a 1973 Montego, with a 5 speed tremec ,Shaker hood, and basically putting the GT options on it.
I have purchased a 429 to put in it and was wondering about the oil pan and engine mounts fitting on the stock k member , anybody done anything similar to their ranchero?

The 429/460 was an option in the montego from 72-76. The engine bay cross member is the same as the ranchero from 72-79. Your engine oil pan will be fine too. The engine mount can come out of any 72-76 montego/torino/ranchero with the 429.460. The 74-76 cougar and elite are the same too. As a bonus all the 72-76 T-bird engine mounts are the same and will work great in your project (all t-birds in this era where BB powered ) Good luck with you project sounds like a cool one. Hey have you ever seen a 73 Montego ranchero? Since this IS a ranchero site thought you might like to see my 73 Ranchero MX without and with topper. welcome to the site!

Some added information the swap. Oil pan on that engine should work if it is a front sump. The fan shroud will need to come out of one of the cars I mentioned and so should all the front engine assy brackets. Don't know what engine you have in there now and where your new engine came from but that would make it easier for me to help you with what you will need. From what I can see of it you car looks pretty nice too. take care Dan

Hi Dan: How do I tell if it is a front sump? It came out of a 1974 Ford with AC & 2 Bolt main.

If it came out of a car your good to go. The deep part of the pan will be in the front of the engine.

Looks like a real nice ride. The 351W is a good work horse. But I do like my 460's
