Shop owner tells me the great paint makes the aluminum bed trim look awful. Anyone seen any OEM bed trim lately?

Also seems like Dan the Ranchero man had his refurbished. What kind of shop would do that?

    Clark,
Had the Bumpers rechromed and all the aluminum trim Polished and dents
removed at Brownings in Maysville, GA. Had this done on ny 77 and 72 Rancheros.

I took it to a local polishing shop (they do tons of harley stuff). The anodizing was removed and then the aluminum was polished up. (74's) the Ranchero MX's is NOS stuff that I bought 12 years ago "as a complete set" for under $500 (I stole it for that price)

Bought a set of Cadillac DTS black leather powered bucket seats yesterday from a local salvage yard. I'll have to take pics. Also have new carpet from ACC.

The new vinyl stripe kit was flawed and has been returned. I have since ordered a stencil kit from Dearborn. Had I known stencils were available, I'd have planned to paint custom stripes from the beginning.

The seats will be the hardest part of the conversion.... I believe they use a 3-point mounting system like my bonneville seats.....
A little 'cutting and fitting' of the mounts and you may have to 'flatten' the rear seat mounting rail in order to fit them in, but I am certain they will make a great addition to your chero....
( on mine, when I made brackets to mount to the existing channels they sat too high... Hit my head on the roof!!!)

That thing is gorgeous! I have a weakness for black cars, but they take lots of extra prep time to come out that well! Looking forward to seeing the stripes on it!

    Caddy seats going in:

Good bit of fab work and a big hammer to make them fit proper as drlance says. Trouble now is the body shop guys tell me the seats make the door panels look plain shabby!

Looking great Clark. Those Cad seats look lot more comfortable than Sebring seats I have so got to get a set for 71 and will put Sebring seats in 63. The further you go the more behind I get.

Next they will tell you that just painting the skin makes the jams look bad!

They already painted the jams. They're covered with crap (in this picture) from buffing out the clear coat.
