will a 15x8 wheel witha 4 1/8 offset with a 275-60-15 tire fit under a stock suspension and rear of a 71 ranchero without rubbing.i what to make sure before i order the wheels
I think that would really be pushing it. On my '71 I have 235-60-14 tires on 14x7" wheels [3.5" backspace] and they clear at the top outside by about 5/8" -- what I would call minimal. Yours would be at least a half-inch wider just due to the wheels. Thank Ford for this; there is plenty of room on the inside, so if you could find some wheels with a different backspace your tire choice would fit easily.
i have a pair of 15x7 revesere with 2 1/2 off set but whated to stuff the biggest possable wheel and tire combo in the back
My 275/60 R15 just barely fit on my 71 but my fenders are rolled and flared a little. It would be better with some more back spacing not sure what mine is now. I have seen a template tool that you could try different sizes on before but can not find the site where it was sold now.
1977 Gt Got 17x9 with 4.5 inch back spacing wrapped in 275/40/17 all the way around. Would like to put 315's on the back but rims are to narrow.
Wheel and tire question Hi, new to this forum. Picking up a 77 Ranchero GT from my nephew in a few weeks. I've purchased a set of 4 Magnum 500 wheels ( 15x7 ) o.e.m.s and have 2 B.F.G 255x70X15 tires I'd like to use on the rear. Not sure of the wheel back set size. Question " Will they Fit"
I don't think that will be any problem, I have 245/40-20" in front and 275/35-20" in the rear 9" wide rims in front and 10" in the rear, also has 1,5" spacer all around as it is modern wheels from a Mustang. I do have 315/30-20" tires that I will put on the rear, and then I still have a very small space left, 1/4 of an inch to be accurate And I will put the 275 in the front on my 72 And welcome to the site.
OK, OK... I know it's not a Ranchero, per se, but the info should still be relevant if you're wondering about fitment/suspension for '72-'79' chassis'. Did all my homework and used a Percy's Wheelrite to mock them up, first. Rims are American Racing TT II's. 18x9-1/2's (5" BS) and 17x8's (4-1/2" BS). Tires are Nitto NT555's. 295/45-18's (28.3" x 11.5") and 255/50-17's (27" x 10.5"). Running late model Crown Vic PI coil springs (Moog 80090), w/ 1/2 coil trimmed off, up front. They're shorter, out of the box, but are heavier gauge wire with a higher spring rate. Work great. Shocks are Monroe late model CVPI Extreme Service units. Nothing harsh about the the ride at all. Rear springs are OE. Measures 27-1/4" at the front wheel well lip, 27-1/2" at the rear. Everything is inside with room to spare. No signs of incidental interference anywhere. Nose only settles 1/2" with the addition of two people (450 lbs). It's worth adding that this is a 351W/C6 car w/ aluminum heads and intake. No AC. Battery is in the trunk. Just sayin'.... your mileage may vary. Peace...
yeah nice ride my 73 chero i have 235/60/15 front with the pi coil springs as well rear has new springs and 245/60/15 and still have a lot of room i also have 4inch back spacing
Hello question about 1978 Ranchero wheels. Actually I've 14 inches wheels. 205/70R14 front and 215/70R14 rear. About American racing S200 wheels, 15 inches diameter. I think for the front 15x7 Backspace 3,7 inches and rear 15x8 Backspace 4 pouces, 205 tires in front and 215 rear. When I look at American racing website the choice il not wide : 2 wheels 9 inches wide zero backspace ???? https://www.americanracing.com/product/wheels/vn402-classic-200s/ Maybe I'm too low about tire width ?
