I am getting my ford o matic trans rebuilt, it never had a Speedo gear in it, since I have had it. Does anybody have an idea of how many teeth I should get, it is stock height and stock tire size
I don't think anyone can answer that till you provide more info. Year Rear Axle ratio Tire size Maybe even number of teeth on drive gear on trans, or just try one & check speed to GPS or something else accurate, if my memory is good is is 3 mph per tooth.
Sorry been working a lot. Tire size is 215/55r15 it's a 65 ranchero. No idea the gear ratio in the trans. Wish I could count the original gear but when I first got it Speedo wasn't working and traced the problem to no cable or gear. Don't drive it very far so never worried about it
your transmission shop can match the right gear for the gear ratio of the axle and overall tire size, mine did
