for this 1961 Ranchero? I would have expected a column shift. Is this some aftermarket job? https://elpaso.craigslist.org/cto/d/el-paso-1961-ford-ranchero/7315142816.html Overall, looks alright, but missing the radio. Needs to be repainted. The ask is $7500. This reasonable? Thanks in advance for opinion/advice.
Some had column shifters, some had floor shifters. For some reason, though, that one doesn't look right.
I looked up some photos on Google, and yeah, this definitely isn't right. The original was much more bare bones. By some accident, photos of '61 to '63 Thunderbird interior popped up, and it does appear to resemble that most closely.
The more I learn, the more I think this is a Frankenstein that has had many cooks stirring the pot. I am going to be oh so careful before biting. I am not really a fan of these cute little add-on's.
You were absolutely correct Mr. Alfred. Kind of a cheezy fix that did nothing to endear me to this pile. Full report under "Is this price reasonable?" Answer: NOT.
my 70 has the shifter moved to the floor from the column.. doesnt bother me at all..was moved to the floor when headers were installed.Column linkage wont work with long tubes I believe
Two random photos, one of steering column, the other of the bird's nest of loose wires hanging down. He will need to locate a buyer with the time, expertise, and money to restore this '61 Ranchero. Out of my wheel house.
