I feel like the doors on the 72 are ridiculously heavy. Is there any way to safely reduce door weight? My Ranchero weighs 4000 lbs with me in it and I'm trying to put it on a diet

The usual way to 'lighten' older car parts, usually for drag racing, you acid-dip them. Or duplicate them in aluminum, fiberglass or both.
But even my '78 replacement door is a two-man lift for changing out.

Thanks for the reply. I'm tempted to just start drilling holes and removing metal with the grinder. But I don't want to create an unsafe condition if I were to get in an accident

There really isn't anything you can remove from those doors, but, if you have a body shop set the doors, you just keep the hinges properly lubed, and the doors will move and latch smoothly.

The doors move and latch perfect. I just wanted to reduce weight to increase gas mileage and make it a little faster
