I have a 1978 Ranchero 500 and the headlights do not come on, I replaced the headlight switch and I have the same issue, just bought this Ranchero and the previous owner did not know this was an issue, please help anyone.

    Check the high beam switch.
    And, naturally, the fuse.

I will check the high beam switch and what fuse, I looked at the schematic and there is no fuse for the headlight assembly on the fuse panel inside the car .

Check all the grounds for that circuit...Often that is all the issue is with these Rancheros

Also check the connector @the light switch. They tend to melt. But, like mentioned prev., a vom will come in handy.

Second this, at the plug mine cracked because it would sometimes connect and when it did it overheated and cracked the entire plug.

When you turn on your lights try twisting the knob and see if your dash brightens. When I got my 76 I didn't know Ford did that kind of thing that far back.
