So far Rebuilt 351c H code with 4bl Holley and Edelbrock intake, RV cam, flat top pistons, double roller timing chain,Pertronics, rebuilt C-4 Transmission. I still need to install a set of full headers, new performance front brake rotors, and restripe it. I still need to pick the stripe color, Silver, Yellow, or, Orange. Before paint prep. During Paint prep. After paint prep. I will take some pictures tomorrow with better light. I am also repainting the topper using the $ 50.00 paint method listed in the lounge. So far so good. I will post pictures of it when I am done, but it is looking pretty good so far. I just need one more coat and wet sand and polish. [ September 12, 2006, 12:44 AM: Message edited by: trikar ]
As a note, a 72 GT did not have the emblem on that 72 frigen "carp" grille, it was plain...nice... [ September 11, 2006, 10:56 PM: Message edited by: CJ Guy ]
Nor were the bumpers or trim originally painted , I picked up the GT emblem at the junk yard. It's what I like. CJ, what's up you seem to have grill issues today. [ September 13, 2006, 12:39 AM: Message edited by: trikar ]
LMAO..... I don't have grill issues, jus having fun is all... But as another note, the 72 was designed for a purpose, a reflection and what lay ahead 73-79. Ford knew it was coming to an end, a last design good-bye for the 70's. It's too bad the design team and the Cleveland went by the wayside. As yet another note or question, who was the person/team who designed and built the Cleveland? I'll give ya hint, it ain't Rocket science..
A wild guess, Shelby? Something I notced when I had the original motors of my '72's opened up they both had original flat top pistons. I had thought that Ford went to the dished pistons in '72, is that not the case, or were they just using up old stock?
Torino, perhaps, I've never seen a 72 GT emblem, Got a part number?? But without a doubt my 72GT did not come with or was it offered as an option a grille emblem.
Semon "Bunkie" Knudsen, originally of General Motors became Ford Motor Pres in 68. He brought with him Pete Estes from Oldsmobile as chief engineer and hired John DeLorean away from Packard and along with stylist Larry Shinoda comprised the muscle car team. Charles Kettering (Oldsmobile)came up with the Rocket 88, which is surprisingly very similiar to The Cleveland...
I'm looking forward to seeing the results of the Rustoleum paint job. I still have not had a chance to experiment with it.
Here are some more shots Here is a picture of the topper that I painted with a roller and Rustolium as discribed in the post about painting a car for $50.00. I still need to wet sand one more time and polish, but for about $20.00 in materials I'm happy with it. Here's A real fast ride!
That turned out really nice. I'm glad you were able to rescue it from an uncertain death. Congratulations.
Thank you, I did miss a few small dings during prep. but I needed to get it done before the storms start comming in. I am without covered parking now, and I am at about 6000 feet.
