Had a small cone shaped spring and thin round piece of plastic (painted blue) fall out from under the dash and hit my foot while driving and now the heater control doesn't work. Don't have time to take the dash apart just yet, so was wondering what this might have been and what's it gonna take to fix? No tension on the lever to set for A/C, heat, vent, etc
your heater contol unit has offically died today! There is a clip and a washer that hold that spring into place on the unit giving you the needed tension. What happens is the plastic stud breaks off and those are hard to fix. I would check the swaps or junk yards What year do you have? 72-73 torino/ranchero/montego interchange. 74-76 torino/montego/cougar/elite/ranchero interchange 77-79 LTD II/ranchero/cougar/thunderbird interchange.
