So I bought another set of valve covers. I’m not happy with the ones I recently got because they don’t have the tall oil filler tube. The oil baffles are RIGHT under the opening, and it takes FOREVER to add oil without it spilling out; those will go on CL. I got the nice polished aluminum ‘289 POWERED BY FORD’ ones vs. the no-name ones I got recently.
Also ordered some Pertronix factory-look plug wires; gotta spend that stimulus money to keep the economy going!

Nice! Are they cast aluminum or chromed steel? I can't tell by the pics.

Yeah, I guess so. I've got nothing better to do than sit home and infuse the economy with my stimulus money.

Well sure! And brew it too; just kegged an Oktoberfest/Marzen, and will be kegging a Hazy/Juicy IPA next week.
So this project has now morphed into a semi-complete engine clean & dress; like I said, I've got nothing better to do. I have some new Fel-Pro intake gaskets on order; I put some on a few years ago, but used the cork china wall gaskets and now I have leaks, even though I coated both sides with silicone. I'll use Permatex 'The Right Stuff' this time. Also ordered some Fel-Pro PermaDryPlus blue silicone valve cover gaskets to replace my old ones that finally cracked internally. And the engine block color is changing from Ford Blue to black, the correct color for a '65 289.
I hope they come up with a COVID vaccine soon; I'm running out of projects & money!!

Bling has mostly arrived. Still waiting for Fel-Pro intake gaskets; for some reason they're backordered.

Thanks Phil. These are just stock 289 replacement gaskets, not the big port versions.

That's why I've got to look - I know I have all the big stuff, just not sure I have stock older ones.

Thanks Phil, that would be great. Post Office is fine, and I'll figure out something to return the favor.
